The 2019 star-studded Roundhouse Gala, sponsored by Lavazza, played host to world-renowned artists alongside Roundhouse home-grown talent in an incredible evening that raised over £1 million.

The Event

The 2019 Gala saw performances from a host of stars including Pet Shop Boys, Beverley Knight, Seal, Laura Mvula and the Trevor Horn Band. They were joined by guests from the world of music and TV, including Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal, Roger Taylor, Adrian Lester, Lolita Chakrabarti and Darcey Bussell

The evening was hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan and also included performances from Roundhouse home-grown talent – including rapper Awate and spoken-word artist Abstract Benna.

Each year the Roundhouse works with 6,000 young people, giving them the chance to develop their skills and confidence through creativity. We’re hoping to increase this number to 10,000 a year and money from the Gala will help support this growth ensuring we can support even more of London’s diverse young people – helping them to build a better future.

Celebrities from the worlds of music, fashion and art donated money-can’t-buy prizes for the Roundhouse live auction. Prizes included incredible artwork from Sir Antony Gormley, Marc Quinn and Conrad Shawcross; the chance to train to be a jockey for a year and a trip to Miami with a once in a lifetime opportunity to sit on the lighting desk for a Rolling Stones gig and meet Ronnie Wood.

As well as the superb entertainment line-up, guests enjoyed a champagne and canapé reception upon arrival, followed by a lavish three course meal served and coffee and espresso martinis from headline sponsor Lavazza.

On the outset it’s good for building morale and confidence but you might just discover you’ve got a real passion for something, it’s got untold value.

About The Roundhouse

Each year we offer thousands of young people the opportunity to transform their lives by taking part in projects at the Roundhouse in music, media or the performing arts. Over 50% of the young people we work with are from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

We’re aiming to grow the number of young people we work with to 10,000 a year by 2023; engaging more young people in creative opportunities, particularly those from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds.

To deliver our transformational creative work with young people, and to programme ground-breaking productions that involve young people, we have to raise £3.5 million every year. The Gala is a key event in achieving this target, join us on 14 March to help provide thousands of young people hope for a better future.

Since 2013 our biennial gala has raised over £3m to support our transformational work.
