What to Expect

The 7 sessions will be practical and reflective, blending theory with creative group work. The programme kicks off with an all-day interactive role-play session, ‘’Power / Influence / Change’ which invites us to explore leadership challenges through an immersive strategy game (think advanced Model UN)! The weekly sessions will then be an opportunity to reflect on this experience through our own understanding of what leadership means and how our approach can develop. The following sessions are guest masterclasses led by industry experts who will deliver interactive workshops on the following topics.

Sessions include:

What is creative leadership and how does identity show up?
Diversity and inclusion - what does it mean to be an inclusive leader? Challenges and opportunities.
Speaking confidently and effective facilitation - practical tips and tricks.
Negotiation / Persuasion / Debate - playing the long game and working across differences.
Digital communications - safety, digital presence, how to manage tech and make it work for you.
Thinking strategically - effective planning and next steps.

By the end of the programme, you'll:

Identify your leadership strengths and weaknesses.
Learn how to confidently collaborate with others
Challenge conventional notions of leadership and contribute to redefining leadership in the creative industries and beyond.
Have a concrete plan for personal leadership development.
Gain demonstrable experience in utilising leadership and communication skills.

Dan Boyden will be running the programme with weekly guest speakers.

Dan Boyden is a theatre maker, director, consultant, and facilitator. He has built a career, over two decades, designing and delivering creative leadership projects in the U.K and Internationally. He is currently working across the criminal justice setting, using theatre in prisons, and is bringing large-scale legislative theatre projects to a number of organisations working across the charity sector. Dan is a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellow and is co-founder/director of Project AWE, an international network of artists and creatives working locally and connecting globally. His 2017 Ted Talk focuses on the work he does and the approach he takes.
