Returning for a second year, Centre 59 is offering London schools throughout the months of June and July a free, 60-minute taster workshop for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils, and community groups working with young people aged 11-25.

The workshop will be focused on the key principles of Centre 59’s methodology; exploration and play, using text and improvisation techniques to create stories.

What young people get:

  • Gain an introduction to theatre practice, specifically improvisation and storytelling
  • Have fun whilst trying something new!
  • Grow confidence within a new skill set
  • Young people who take part will also have a referral or self referral pathway into the ballot for Centre 59 Theatre Week.

After attending drama classes at the Roundhouse 20 years ago, establishing Centre 59 in my first act as Associate Artistic Director is a full circle moment. It is a great opportunity to pay forward what I appreciated receiving in my own youth – and creating Centre 59 is the perfect way to do that. With shared values of community, taking action and legacy, Roundhouse is the ideal partner. I am excited about how the next generation will be inspired, grow and benefit from what we will all build together.
