Whistle

Whistle

22 May 2012 - 26 May 2012 / Studio Theatre

"Profoundly honest and at the same time joyfully entertaining." Independent on Sunday

When Martin Figura was nine years old, his father killed his mother. Whistle is a 60 minute multi-media depiction of a post-war British childhood using poetry, family photographs and striking visuals, based on his award-winning poetry collection. Figura explores themes of identity, forgiveness, loss, adoption and family with insight and gentle humour, to tell a unique coming-of-age story, which is both profound and uplifting.

Poetry Society’s Hamish Canham Prize Winner 2010 and Short-Listed for The Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry 2010.
