RSC: As You Like It

RSC: As You Like It

13 Jan 2011 - 5 Feb 2011 / Roundhouse Main Space

The Royal Shakespeare Company returns to the Roundhouse with a ten-week season of eight acclaimed Shakespeare productions including As You Like It.

Unable to act on their feelings and forced into exile in the Forest of Arden, lovers Rosalind and Orlando become entangled in a beguiling game of love, lust and mistaken identity in one of Shakespeare’s great comedies.

'Captures the liberating power of love...Katy Stephens' excellent Rosalind'
Guardian ****

'Michael Boyd directs an intelligent, deeply felt, admirably spoken production of Shakespeare’s pastoral comedy'
Daily Telegraph ****

'A palpable sense of ensemble among the cast: Forbes Masson is one of the most arresting Jacques I have ever seen; Jonjo O’Neill’s intense, love-racked Orlando; Mariah Gale, fast developing into a truly great Shakespearean actress, gives a beautifully deft, touching performance as Celia; Richard Katz is that rare thing, a genuinely funny Touchstone. Played with freshness, comic detail and a real understanding of the rhythm and richness of Shakespeare's language'
Daily Telegraph ****

'Michael Boyd's actors go for the heart of this serious, beautiful comedy'
Sunday Times

Financial Times ****
