Check out GB’s hottest up-and-coming lyrical athletes as they flex their poetic muscles in a war of words, vying for the title of 2012 Roundhouse Poetry Slam Champion and the Colin & Helen David Prize.

Over two weeks, 32 poets will go head to head in front of a live audience and a panel comprising five of the best writers on the UK poetry scene. The toughest competitors from the two heats will go through to an epic final match, where the 2012 title race will be decided.

Heat 1:  15 August, 7.30pm

Heat 2:  22 August, 7.30pm

THE JUDGES

The competition will be judged by 5 top UK poets, who will also perform live guest sets.

Polarbear – Once a brickie, now a bear, but cuddly he ain't. Grrr.
David J – They call him the ‘Vocal Pugilist’. ‘Nuff said.
Kat Francois - Former BBC3 TV & World poetry Slam champion. She’s got form.
Inua Ellams  -  At the peak of his fitness following training on ‘The Midnight Run’. 
Daniel Cockrill  - Founder of Bang! Said the Gun. In his spare time he wrestles lions. Scary.
