A panel of actors from diverse backgrounds and experiences come together to share what it’s really like to be in front of the camera. From breaking into the industry to developing characters and navigating different screen roles, this conversation will explore the personal journeys, techniques, and challenges actors face in the world of film and TV.
Shehroze Khan is a Writer/Director with a passion for character-driven films, and unique stories that can hold a mirror up to society. He was most recently 2nd Unit Director on SKY/AMC’s Gangs of London, and just completed the NFTS Prime Video Director’s Scheme. Awarded one of Broadcast Now’s Hot Shots 2024, Shehroze’s films have won awards and screened at several OSCAR and BAFTA Qualifying Film Festivals including TriBeCa, Flickerfest, Pan African, as well as Bronze Lens and Hamptons. He has made numerous films with Fully Focused Productions, directing the likes of David Harewood OBE (Homeland) and Fady Elsayed (Gangs of London) to make dramas that have scored hundreds of thousands of views online.
Shehroze previously worked as Director’s Assistant to auteurs such as Marc Munden on the Sky/HBO series THE THIRD DAY, as well as Clio Barnard on her BBC Films feature, ALI & AVA and the Apple TV+ series, The Essex Serpent. His scripts were shortlisted twice to be developed by the BBC Writer’s Room as part of the Its My Shout scheme. Having been selected as one of Film London’s Lodestars 2020, and previously on the BFI x BAFTA’s Film/TV Crew 2018, he is an avid Film/TV enthusiast, loves going to the cinema and is currently developing his debut feature film.
Fatima Serghini is a London-based dramaturg working across stage and screen, collaborating with playwrights, filmmakers, and creative teams to shape stories that pulse with emotional truth. With experience in writers’ rooms at Stockroom, Complete Fiction and Netflix, she bridges the cinematic and the theatrical, guiding texts from first draft to performance.
Alongside her dramaturgical practice, Fatima regularly hosts Q&As and industry conversations, facilitating dialogue with Oscar and BAFTA-winning filmmakers and acclaimed playwrights. Her recent appearances include events with BAFTA, The Garden Cinema, Soho House, WFTV, Universal Music, MsMono Production, Picturehouse, London Film Academy, Bush Theatre, Central School of Speech & Drama, RADA, NFTS, Creative Access, the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
This event is co-hosted by the Roundhouse and Fully Focused Productions.
Fully Focused is a youth-led production company making award-winning, high-impact film, TV and online content. An organisation with a social focus, every commission to Fully Focused enables young people to gain valuable experience, paid employment and transferable skills whilst simultaneously injecting every brief with an authentic youth voice.
Fully Focused have also founded Million Youth Media, a platform for young film creators and the MYM Academy that helps young people to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to pursue a career in film.
This event is for absolute beginners, intermediate through to advanced.
