If you love making or playing music but haven’t had many chances to perform, it can be tricky to share your songs, get feedback, or meet other young musicians. You might feel nervous about stepping on stage or unsure where to start.
Open Mic & Open Decks Nights are here to change that. These events give emerging artists the chance to perform in a relaxed, supportive setting. You can perform yourself or come along as an audience member — the choice is yours!
A night dedicated to DJs. Jump on the decks, share your mixes, and connect with other young selectors. Perfect for building confidence and trying new sounds in front of a friendly crowd.
A space for singers, rappers, bands, instrumentalists, and producers. Play your first set or test new material, experiment, and meet other young musicians.
Not at all! Beginners, first-timers, and experienced performers are all welcome. You can bring your instruments, backing tracks, or just your voice — we’ll handle the sound setup. DJs: decks provided. Live musicians and producers: basic band setup ready (keyboard, guitar & bass amps, microphones, drum kit).
Whether you want to be center stage or cheering from the crowd, here is how to get involved:
If you need help to pay for things like project fees, transport or childcare, we can help. Find out how you can get support. If you are using a bursary to pay for the project, please ensure you arrange this with the Advice Base with plenty of time before the start of the project.
We are committed to supporting D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse young people, those with medical conditions, access requirements or any lived experience that may require adaptation, support or sensitivity. If there is anything you would like to let us (our youth workers, tutors or staff) know that will support your enjoyment and access, you can do so by emailing us at advicebase@roundhouse.org.uk, and we will contact you to discuss further how to best support your engagement.
