Want to learn how to make a great radio show from idea to broadcast?

This one-day bootcamp introduces the essentials of radio production and gives you hands-on experience in creating audio that keeps listeners tuned in. You’ll explore how to craft engaging stories, produce content with confidence, and develop your own on-air voice – all guided by industry professionals.

What you’ll  get:

  • Learn how to operate recording equipment and broadcast software
  • Build skills in audio mixing, editing and sound design
  • Develop scripting, interviewing and presenting techniques
  • Gain confidence hosting, communicating and working as part of a production team
  • Create and refine your own short audio pieces

Who is teaching the project? 

Marie is an award-winning executive producer, facilitator and consultant working across the arts, broadcasting and human rights sectors. Her career began as a broadcast journalist and voiceover artist at the BBC, Global and other international platforms. She later helped secure the FM licence for Reprezent FM, created documentaries for BBC Radio 4 and World Service, and spent over a decade at the Roundhouse as Head of Broadcast and Digital. She now runs her own production company, creating digital content that connects people through storytelling, and is a Senior Teaching Fellow in podcasting at SOAS University.

Erica McKoy is a London-based presenter, producer and digital consultant whose work spans the BBC, Sky News, Worldwide FM and major cultural venues like the Royal Opera House and Royal Albert Hall. With a passion for discovering new sounds and exploring the role of audio in community and culture, Erica creates immersive digital experiences and pushes the boundaries of what storytelling through sound can be.

Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?

This course is for 11-14-year-olds who have an interest in storytelling and radio, and there is no need to have had any prior experience in audio in order to join.
