Creative Writing for Theatre and Spoken Word

Interested in creative writing for different mediums like theatre and spoken word? 

In this three day course we’ll explore how to craft stories and build words using your own ideas. We’ll explore story structure, creating characters and developing narratives, and help you express your own voice through poetry and storytelling.

You’ll spend time playing creative games and getting to know each other as a group, to help you build confidence in sharing ideas and expressing yourself in a comfortable, safe space. Then we’ll work towards creating some original pieces, both collaboratively as a group and individually.

You’ll have a chance to perform to friends and family at the end of the three days in a relaxed and informal sharing (always with the option not to perform if this doesn’t feel right for you).

Been before? Every term we’ll do something a bit different and bring in different tutors to lead the course so you’ll always be learning something new, even if you’ve done this course a few times before!

Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?

No particular skills or experience required! This is open to all levels and abilities and we welcome back people who’ve done this project in previous half terms as well as new people.
