Acting for Screen: Introduction to Making Your Own Short Film

This 3 half-day course is perfect for anyone who loves TV and Film and wants to explore the basics of acting on screen and how to shoot your own scenes. If you’re curious about what it takes to make a performance shine on camera, this workshop offers a fun, practical introduction. 

You’ll learn the basics of how to create a short film using a phone. You’ll learn how to collaborate with your fellow actors, while also being introduced to the basics of directing and cinematography, including lighting and framing shots. All with support from two industry professionals.

What do I get by taking part?

  • Learn how to choose the right script for screen acting
  • Practise storyboarding — sketch out key shots, camera angles and scene setups
  • Tips for learning lines quickly and naturally
  • Get hands-on with cinematography: lighting, framing, and how to shoot scenes on your phone
  • Film and take away a couple of short scenes you’ve created yourself
  • Collaborate with others who are passionate about TV, film, and acting
  • Get personalised feedback from experienced industry professionals

Do you need any particular skills or experience to take part?

Everyone is welcome, no previous experience is required! This workshop is best suited for people with little or no experience of acting on camera. You may already have some stage-acting experience but this is not necessary.
