Three Sixty Festival
Witness the future of hip hop theatre in this powerhouse collaboration between Boy Blue and the Roundhouse, featuring a groundbreaking new production from the next generation of talent.
Introducing PROJECT rEVOLUTION. An epic dance theatre production created by young artists in collaboration with Boy Blue and Roundhouse.
Equally renowned for delivering world-class training and facilities through their Youth Programmes, Boy Blue and the Roundhouse join forces to form a brand-new dance company. Bringing together a piece inspired by Boy Blue: Cycles. These performers have been collaborating with the Roundhouse Poetry Collective and Music Producer Drop In, to create an original piece of hip hop dance theatre.
This event will also feature performances from Boy Blue Company 1 and 2 and guest companies, Elementz, HomeFam and Outlawz. They will present their own pieces alongside Project rEVOLUTION.
Boy Blue Company 1 & Company 2
Boy Blue’s Company 1 & 2 join the Project Revolution Showcase with two contrasting pieces.
Company 1’s piece, Done/Undone, is choreographed by Olivia Shouler and Jimmy Allan. Their piece is a reflection and exploration of space. Through their discovery of bravery and declaration, it appears….’You are why it’s undone’.
Company Two’s piece ‘Shook 1‘ choreographed by Olivia Francis features a pastiche from Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante exploring interpolations, showing the genealogy of how an original sample grew to become one of hip hop’s most famous tracks as we know it.
This piece plays with the fusion of several street dance techniques including, popping, animation, waving and hip hop dance. Its about shifting between them and holding balance, without getting shook in any one place.
Elementz
Founded in 2006 by Artistic Director Lindon Barr, Elementz is an award-winning Hip Hop and Street Dance company. What began as a collective of friends has grown into a London-based company that has welcomed over 150 dancers and trained nearly 300 Academy students – many of whom remain part of the Elementz family today.
As a theatre company, Elementz has performed at festivals and venues worldwide, from Breakin’ Convention and the Royal Opera House to the HHI World Championships in Las Vegas, the Stockholm Fringe Festival, and the Bay Music Awards in Malta. They will be performing a brand new piece of work, Rooted.
