Are you an aspiring director or screenwriter looking to develop your ideas? Join our ideas lab, designed specifically for emerging writer/directors who are beginning to explore the process of screenwriting and directing. This course is perfect for those with a one-page synopsis, a great idea, or a first draft that needs structuring, as well as for individuals seeking to develop enigmatic characters or learn how to communicate their vision to actors and crew.

What You’ll Get:

  • Project Development: Over the course of the programme, you’ll analyse script examples, participate in exercises, and develop your own projects.
  • Storytelling Mastery: Explore storytelling techniques, dialogue creation, and character development to make your script compelling.
  • Skill Enhancement: Gain a deeper understanding of screenwriting and directing through practical exercises and personalised project development
  • Vision Articulation: Learn how to bring your script to life and effectively convey your vision to your team.

Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part? 

This course is designed for individuals with some beginner writing experience or a strong interest in screenwriting. This can be work written in your own time on personal projects. You should come prepared with ideas you are passionate about developing.

If you need help to pay for things like project fees, transport or childcare, we can help. Find out how you can get support. If you are using a bursary to pay for the project, please ensure you arrange this with the Advice Base with plenty of time before the start of the project.
