Think theatre isn’t for you? Think again!
Centre 59 Theatre Week is your chance to go behind the scenes and explore how to create stories for the stage.
This week is all about trying something new and unlocking your potential. Designed for people who have little to no experience in theatre, each day you’ll get to choose from a menu of practical workshops in areas such as:
You don’t need to be a ‘theatre kid’ to fit in here. Whether you’ve only ever done a bit of drama at school or are trying this for the very first time, everyone starts from scratch. There are no auditions to worry about, just come willing to get stuck in!
Please note: To keep things fair for absolute beginners, this project is not open to anyone currently or recently undertaking intensive vocational performing arts training. (This could include CAT programs, associations with professional training schools, or performing at a high grade level.)
Centre 59 is an accessible space and entry point for young people to the artform of storytelling in theatre and the performing arts. Core to Centre 59 is the mission to build young artists who learn to share their own stories through a programme of writing, acting, directing and producing.
Centre 59 is a creative partnership from Roundhouse and 59% Productions, spearheaded by Roundhouse Associate Artistic Director Daniel Kaluuya.
With Director Evelyn Duah and Associate Director Louie Keen.
This project is an affordable, fully supervised summer holiday programme. It is designed to keep young people socially connected and engaged. Our team of professional facilitators create a safe environment where teamwork and real-world confidence are prioritised over theatrical perfection.
Places are open to everyone and booked on a first-come, first-served basis. Secure your spot using the button below
WHO IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A PLACE?
This project is not open to anyone who has currently, or recently, taken part in any vocational or intensive performing arts training. (This could include CAT programs, associations with professional training schools, or performing at a high grade level.) This is to help us ensure the project is accessible to those who have not experienced similar projects or training before.
Previous year’s participants cannot repeat the same age group, but can book if they have moved into a new age bracket.
If you need help to pay for things like project fees, transport or childcare, we can help. Find out how you can get support. If you are using a bursary to pay for the project, please ensure you arrange this with the Advice Base with plenty of time before the start of the project.
We are committed to supporting D/deaf, disabled and neurodiverse young people, those with medical conditions, access requirements or any lived experience that may require adaptation, support or sensitivity. If there is anything you would like to let us (our youth workers, tutors or staff) know that will support your enjoyment and access, you can do so by emailing us at advicebase@roundhouse.org.uk, and we will contact you to discuss further how to best support your engagement.
