Ahead of their two highly anticipated headline shows at the Roundhouse on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 November, acclaimed indie band English Teacher visited the Roundhouse Creative Studios on Tuesday 11 November for a special tour and creative session with the Roundhouse Music Collective.
The band explored the Roundhouse’s state-of-the-art studio spaces before joining the Roundhouse Music Collective, a group of sixteen emerging artists aged 18–25 during their weekly session. The visit saw English Teacher listen to the Collective’s works-in-progress, share feedback on their creative process, and take part in a short Q&A with the group.
The session shone a spotlight on Roundhouse’s vital youth programme. The programme offers access to studios, courses, and industry mentorship for young creatives. At the heart of this programme is the Creative Studios, where 13–25 year-olds can book professional-level studio space and gear for just £1 an hour.
English Teacher are one of the UK’s most exciting rising bands, known for their intelligent lyricism, genre-bending sound, and electrifying live performances. Following a string of acclaimed festival appearances and sold-out headline shows, the band are due to play at the Roundhouse this November for two unmissable nights celebrating their debut album and rapidly growing fanbase.
Nicholas Eden, from English Teacher, said: “We were blown away. So much talent. We didn’t know that a percentage of proceeds from the bar and tickets and every donation, all of it goes back towards helping young people here.”
Lily Fontaine, lead vocalist, commented: “Like I wish I’d known when I was under 25 that these professional studios were available because it’s so expensive to record and it’s only £1 an hour here.”
Michaela Greene, Partnerships and Impact Director at the Roundhouse, said:
“It’s brilliant to have English Teacher here tonight, meeting our inspiring young people and seeing first-hand the results of our pioneering youth programme. Here at the Roundhouse, we are committed to connecting world-class artists with the next generation of emerging talent, offering young creatives access, inspiration, and real-world insight into the music industry.”
