Roundhouse is looking for the next generation of performers, musicians, dancers, animators, directors aged 15 – 17 to work together to create their own show. You will respond to themes from Barber Shop Chronicles across two weeks using music, theatre, spoken word and stop-motion animation ending with a performance to friends and family in the Roundhouse’s Main Space on the set of the show.
The project dates are as follows:
- 5th Aug, 7-10pm – Meet the group and watch Barbershop Chronicles
- 6th – 9th Aug & 13th-18th Aug. 10.30am-4.30pm – Rehearsals
- 18th Aug – Performance
What will I get from taking part?
By taking part in this project you will:
• Develop your skills in theatre, spoken word, music production, DJing and stop-motion animation
• Collaboratively creative your own show, working with a director and professional artist tutors
• Learn how to use different art forms to tell a story in response to Barber Shop Chronicles
• Perform in the Roundhouse’s Main Space at the end of the project
Who will be teaching the project?
Kat Francois, Conrad Kira & The Rainbow Collective. Guest creatives from the show to be announced.
Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?
No previous experience necessary – just be willing to collaborate and try new things.
Is there anything I need to bring or wear?
Please wear comfortable clothes and we recommend you bring a packed lunch every day.
How do I pay for this project?
You can pay for your place with a debit or credit card when you book online. If you don’t have a card you can pay by visiting us in person or by calling us on 0300 6789 222 (option 4). We are open Tue – Fri 9.30am – 9pm and Sat – Mon 9.30am – 5pm.
