This project is open to anyone aged 15-17 but aims to support greater diversity within the creative industries and sign up is encouraged from young people of ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds.

What is the project about?
Are you interested in what goes on behind the scenes of shows? Join Backstage Niche for an introduction to backstage and technical roles, including practical introductory workshops with industry professionals and a backstage tour of the Roundhouse.

What will I get from taking part?

• Have a better understanding of the different backstage roles in theatre and how they each contribute to a final production
• Take part in practical introductory workshops exploring different backstage skills
• Take a guided backstage tour of Roundhouse and meet the technical team
• Find out about the different training and professional pathways to these roles

Who will be teaching the project?
Backstage Niche is a community of technical and backstage theatre freelancers from culturally diverse backgrounds who have been recommended by our network. The freelancers lead workshops and panel talks that target young people from diverse backgrounds in schools and communities. As well as provide mentoring to those currently studying production arts. Join our workshop to experience a snippet of what it’s like on the other side of the stage!

Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?
No previous experience necessary.

Is there anything I need to bring or wear?
Please wear comfortable clothes, bring a bottle of water and packed lunch.
