Learn how to develop and grow your own blog from professionals and get the chance to write for the Roundhouse website on this six-week project.

What will I get from taking part?
By the end of the project you will:

  • Have a better understanding of the blogging landscape, what makes other bloggers successful and what are the pros and cons of platforms you can use
    • Have developed your blogging skills including:
      • How to structure a blog
      • Creative copywriting of catchy headlines
      • how and when to use different content formats (i.e. photography, video etc)
    • How to write for different brands and adopt a different tone of voice
    • How to write web optimised copy
    • Know how to use social media to build an audience for your work
    • Have learnt how to generate and pitch your own ideas and conduct research
    • Know what you need to do to become a freelance writer or journalist
    • Get commissions to write about Roundhouse productions, gigs and projects with the chance to interview artists and see work
    • Have built your portfolio by blogging for the Roundhouse website (viewed by more than one million every year!)

    Who will be teaching the project?
    This project will be taught by professional writers with experience of being commissioned to write online content.

    Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?
    Yes, you need to be writing an existing blog or be able to provide examples of your own writing and have a passion for online content, journalism or the arts.

    Is there anything I need to bring or wear?
    No, all equipment will be provided.

    Are bursaries available?
    Yes – if you need help to pay for things like project fees, transport or childcare find out how you can get support.
