Get ready for an exciting adventure at the On Air Radio Bootcamp! Over the course of two days, you will dive into the world of radio broadcasting. From creating engaging content to learning the production steps and broadcasting.

This workshop offers hands-on experience in every aspect of radio creation. Under the guidance of experienced tutors, participants will develop their storytelling skills, and learn how to captivate audiences through the power of sound. Get ready to tune in and discover the thrill of bringing your voice to the airwaves!

Meet the tutors

Marie Horner works in the arts, broadcasting and human rights sectors as an award-winning executive producer, facilitator and consultant. She started her career as a broadcast journalist and voiceover artist at the BBC, Global and other international broadcasters and podcast platforms before focusing her work on collaborating with emerging producers and artists. After being part of the team who secured the FM licence for Reprezent FM and making documentaries for BBC Radio 4 and World Service, she worked at the Roundhouse for over a decade as the Head of Broadcast and Digital. She now runs her own production company and makes digital content that is respectfully curious and connects people through stories. She regularly consults for different arts organisations, charities and broadcasters as well as being a Senior Teaching Fellow in podcasting at SOAS University.

Erica McKoy is a London based presenter, content producer and digital consultant with a passion for discovering and using new sounds. She has worked at the BBC, Sky News and Worldwide FM and she has presented at events held at iconic venues such as the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. Her curiosity spans everything from the link between club culture and mental health to uncovering new music worldwide. 

Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?

This course is for 11-14-year-olds who have an interest in storytelling and radio and there is no need to have had any prior experience in audio in order to join.
