Part of The Last Word, a festival where words come alive.

An evening of live music and poetry by members of the artist collective Steam Down; Brother Portrait, Nadeem Din-Gabisi and Germane Marvel.

Expect universal vibes and uncompromising truths spoken to the back drop of hip-hop, jazz, soul, grime and afrobeat.

About the line up

Brother Portrait writes poetry, prose, musings and music. Before Steam Down, you might have met him at a shop floor sessions jam, or with Vulpes Vulpes or with the Naew Funk poets, or maybe trading bars with his black/other brothers…

Nadeem Din-Gabisi is an artist, DJ and poet. His artwork and poetry are centered around the re-presentation of the black image. Through all his artistic practices Nadeem actively seeks ways to bridge the gap between the seen and unseen
worlds.

Germane Marvel is a playwright, poet, philosopher and a pianist, who recently co-wrote and performed in Battersea Arts Centre’s award winning, five-star show Frankenstein: How to Make A Monster. He is particularly interested in exploring the place where art, science and philosophy meet.
