Part of The Last Word, a festival where words come alive.

A Show About Trains is a show about trains.

Poet Kit Finnie grew up in a rural Lincolnshire market town. Travel was restricted to where your dad could be bothered to drive you, and she didn’t go anywhere alone (further than the shop) until she was eighteen.

In A Show About Trains, she explores the impact of lack of travel on herself, her town, the nation and the world at large, asking why, in an age of borders, Brexit and absurd ticket prices, there still isn’t a rail station in North Thoresby.

A Show About Trains is a story about local history, local politics, local prejudices, and whether it’s possible to ever really leave the place you grow up.
