In advance of the full 1000 minute performance of Longplayer for Voices, which will be performed by 240 singers and premier at the Roundhouse in the summer of 2018, we invite you to a preview performance of a 1000 second section of the work. This will be performed by over 60 singers from choirs across London under the direction of Orlando Gough and Peter Broadbent.
The performance will be accompanied by a talk and discussion with artist and composer Jem Finer.
Longplayer Live performed at the Roundhouse in 2009, played on 234 singing bowls. This beautiful human voice version of Longplayer presents Longplayer in its most fundamental form.
Longplayer is a piece of music composed to play for one thousand years without interruption. It began playing at midnight on 31 December 1999, and will continue to play without repetition until the last moment of 2999, at which point it will complete its cycle and begin again.
Longplayer was originally produced as an Artangel commission, and is now in the care of the Longplayer Trust.
This is a free event but you will still need to book a ticket to reserve your place.
Suitable for all ages.
Latecomers will be admitted throughout.
