Elena Šiljić is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Auckland, New Zealand.
She makes pop music with alternative soundscapes and sensibilities that pushes the boundaries of what pop music is today.
Their music addresses themes of political uprising, female empowerment, outsider-ness and overcoming trauma, their live shows capturing the performative anger of the punk feminist movement pioneered by bands like Bikini Kill combined with the ethereal mystery and darkness of trip-hop bands such as Massive Attack and Portishead.
With her production and sound design skills she curates a world that can toy with feelings, energy, dynamics and mood shifts. She, “likes to leave people not knowing what to expect”. Honing in the worlds of Kate Bush’s theatricality or Patti Smith’s rawness and grunt, “I want my subject matter to be confronting, I want to make people feel some sort of urgency when they leave a show, to question the way that they live”.
