Headliner, and urban music’s brightest star Little Simz presents ‘Wishes’, a night championing emerging UK grime and hip hop. Witness Birmingham singer/songwriter Jacob Banks, alongside Plan B protégé Ria Ritchie, the soul-filled Joel Baker and electro-rap collective Jin Jin and the Ragdolls.
With her roots firmly in hip-hop, *Little Simz*’ love and passion for music has seen this talented writer, musician, producer, dancer and budding actress perform at venues across the country alongside leading UK artists Estelle, Tinie Tempah, N-Dubz, Chipmunk and Ms. Dynamite. Tonight she launches her hot new EP, Theologue Theory.
Within a very minimal length of time, Birmingham-based singer/songwriter Jacob Banks has accomplished a great deal. In 2011 he beat thousands to win the ‘Are You In’ Adidas competition, creating a track alongside Plan B, and won the MOBO unsung competition.
With over 10 million views and 35k subscribers, Ria Ritchie has created a name for herself via her Youtube profile and has created a buzz that many signed acts would kill for. Plan B was the first to spot her talents – after seeing one of her covers on YouTube, he immediately invited her to London for a writing and studio session which produced 5 tracks.
Joel Baker is a singer/songwriter from Nottingham, currently residing in West London. Whilst working for a Shadow Minister in the House of Commons by day, Joel has been making noise on the underground gig circuit. From the same collective as Nick Brewer and The Confectionery, Joel has a passion for writing soul-felt lyrics and creating quirky hip hop covers.
Jin Jin boasts a more interesting catalogue than the average early twenty something starlet. As a child, hanging out in her grandad’s reggae music record shop was the perfect introduction to a wealth of mellifluous glory that would inspire her lifetime’s work. Check out the likes of Cashpoint Drama, a track that offers a quirky take on the electro-rap mash-ups of 2012 featuring the lyrical genius of Mikill Pane.
