In a relaxed chat show format, Dweezil Zappa will share a wide range of intimate reminiscences, talk about his childhood within the Zappa household, growing up and playing music at home with Frank, attending  - and playing -  at his fathers shows as a kid and his memories of the various ‘eclectic’ visitors at the Zappa family home. He will discuss his musical influences and how he’s had to adapt as an artist and guitarist to cope with the challenges of presenting Frank’s music to today’s audiences. Expect some fun and surprising anecdotes! Dweezil will play a few examples of music that have really inspired him, demonstrating the latest incarnation of his Fractal rig and the effects that he uses to make the Zappa Plays Zappa shows so rich in textures and tones.  

Scott Thunes has some great stories to tell.  As an integral part of Frank’s band from 1981 to 1988, playing on such albums as The Man From Utopia, Them or Us, Broadway the Hard Way, Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch and Guitar, Scott will talk about his experiences recording and performing with Frank.

Dweezil Zappa and his 'rocking teenage combo' will return to the Roundhouse this November to perform a special show celebrating the seminal decades of his father Frank Zappa’s back catalogue. The Roundhouse show will be followed by a UK and European tour - ‘The Decades Tour’ – and will feature material from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s to include music from classic Zappa albums such as Joe’s Garage, We’re Only in It for the Money, Weasels Ripped My Flesh Freak Out & Hot Rats. 

The show will also include a selection of Frank Zappa’s iconic material which Dweezil has never performed before.

Commenting on his return to the Roundhouse, Dweezil Zappa said, 'We are really looking forward to coming back to play the Roundhouse. We loved being part of the Frank Zappa weekend in 2010 and will be pulling out all the stops when we return. UK audiences have always been so appreciative of the efforts we have made to bring my father's music back to the live stage. We are working extra hard on new live material to world premiere and are planning a few surprises for the show. It’ll be an exciting challenge for all of us.'

This new Decades Tour follows on from the success of the 2011 Apostrophe tour and Dweezil’s two CD releases on UK label Fantom Records - Live In The Moment (a double CD featuring improvised guitar solos from past tours) and the F.O.H. double CD featuring a collection of raw and unedited live performances of a selection of Zappa songs performed by Dweezil and his Zappa Plays Zappa band. Dweezil and Zappa Plays Zappa have performed to audiences worldwide since 2006, receiving rave reviews as they go. In 2009, they were awarded a prestigious Grammy award for best rock instrumental performance for their version of Peaches en Regalia and were nominated in the same category in 2010 for their performance of The Deathless Horsie. Dweezil, who is accompanied by a host of hand-picked young musical talent from around the world, brings his father’s musical legacy to life on stage and is the only official act to do so since Frank Zappa’s death in 1993.
