Reykjavik

4 Aug 2011 - 14 Aug 2011 / Studio Theatre

Sold Out

Nominated for a Total Theatre Award for Innovation at the Edinburgh Fringe, Shams bring this intimate, multi-sensory and immersive theatrical experience that invites an audience of twenty five to don forensic suits and explore the world of Reykjavik, in search of a half-forgotten love affair.

Produced by Time Won't Wait and created collaboratively with an award-winning team of directors, including Lucinka Eisler (Inspector Sands) and Carolina Valdes (Theatre O) alongside neuroscientist Hugo Spiers, Shams take us on a guided journey through the realms of recollection. Part travelogue, part forensic reconstruction, Reykjavík is an exploration through a city of extremes, asking how far can we trust our own memory?

'Incredibly impressive, daring in its approach with an underlying tenderness.' British Theatre Guide
'Young’s performance as the protagonist is captivating, moving and utterly compelling, whilst the writing shows a natural flair for dialogue. This really is a beautiful piece of poetry.' Spoonfed****

Tickets: £10
Latecomers will not be admitted
Running time: 70 minutes

Revealing  Reykjavik
Thu 11 Aug, 7pm
An informal discussion with Jonathan Young and Shams sharing how art and science practise can come together to create new performance work, taking Reykjavik's theme of memory as inspiration. The discussion is free and open to audiences on this date.

Notes for audience:
Reykjavik is a unique and sensory experience for audiences. It is a Promenade show, meaning you will be standing, sitting and moving around the theatre at intervals, supported and guided by Shams, our artists in residence. So that you blend into the scenery we will give you light overalls to wear over your everyday clothes. Please come in trousers and flat shoes for comfort.
