A Gift in your Will

A lasting legacy for Roundhouse generations to come

The Roundhouse has taken on many forms since its construction as a steam engine maintenance shed in 1846. For most people it is best known as a space for discovering pioneering performing arts. It was the at the heart of the British rock n’ roll explosion in the 60s with Jimi Hendrix, Elton John and The Rolling Stones wowing audiences who were, in a post-war Britain, enjoying a freedom never experienced before.

In 1983 the Roundhouse was closed and lay dormant and languishing for 13 years. But in late 1996 a local businessman Torquil Norman, bought the Roundhouse with the idea of converting it into a world class performance space with a creative centre for young people to develop their potential.

Today, the Roundhouse stands as an organisation with an open-door Creative Programme for young people aged 11-25 and offers audiences of all ages new and extraordinary experiences in live music, circus, theatre and new media.

Legacies, whether they are big or small, provide the Roundhouse with a crucial fund to offer over 5,000 creative opportunities every year so that future generations can continue to make new discoveries and life changing experiences.

Thank you for considering leaving a legacy to the Roundhouse in this special way.

Suggested wording to take to your solicitor:

You may already know what type of legacy gift you would like to leave to the Roundhouse but if you’re unsure there are various ways including the residue of your property, a specific gift of money, or to bequeath an item such as a piece of art.

You can download some suggested wording to take with you when you visit your solicitor.
