Roundhouse Gala raises over £625,000 to support the vital work we do with 3,000 11-25 year olds a year
7 Mar 2013
Ray Davies with the Crouch End Festival Chorus, Boy George, Heaven 17, Imogen Heap and Eliza Doolittle were just a few of the great acts that took to the stage for the Roundhouse 2013 Gala, all hosted by Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw .
Harry Enfield, accompanied by Christie’s Hugh Edmeades, were in charge of the live auction which included an original Xylobryte artwork, used on Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto album, an original piece by Antony Gormley, a walk-on role in Les Misérables, a luxurious trip to the island paradise of Ibiza, an afternoon tea with award-winning playwright Alan Bennett and a working lunch with Lord Sebastian Coe amongst many others. A full list of the amazing lots auctioned at the event can be found here.
The night also showcased some of the incredibly talented individuals who benefit from the Roundhouse’s Creative Programme; the Roundhouse Choir collaborated with Heaven 17 to perform their track Temptation as well as the beautiful Hide & Seek with Imogen Heap; spoken word artist and winner of the 2012 Roundhouse Poetry Slam Hibaq Osman took to the stage alongside industry professional and lead Roundhouse spoken word tutor Polarbear; hula troupe The Majorettes welcomed guests on arrival and the Roundhouse street dance/acrobatic troupe, Funk da Cirque opened the show. Watch this short film to see an overview of the whole evening.
The event raised over an incredible £625,000 to support the vital work we do with 3,000 11-25 year olds a year, helping them to realise their creative potential as well as building confidence and skills to take into their futures. To see where all of that takes place, go for a virtual tour of our studios in this short film. The money raised will also contribute to maintaining the Artistic Programme that engages young people through a diverse and contemporary range of theatre, circus and music.
5th Birthday Gala Celebration raises £555,000 for the Roundhouse
22 March 2011
The Roundhouse celebrated the fifth anniversary of its transformation into one of London’s most vibrant centres for the arts and young people on Tuesday 22 March. Luminaries from the worlds of art, music, film and theatre came together for a spectacular gala dinner and auction.
The sparkling array of guests included: Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton, Ron Arad, Sir Peter Blake, Terry Gilliam, Janet Street Porter, Amy Lane, Lindsay Duncan, Wayne McGregor, Simon Callow, David Ross, Sir Torquil Norman, Tony Elliot, Lord Stanley Fink, Deborah Meaden, Derek Safo, Gerald and Gail Ronson as well as Mayor of Camden, Jonathan Simpson.
Following a drinks reception generously provided by Morgans Hotel Group, guests were ushered into the main space for the first of the night’s highly anticipated acts - a breathtaking performance by Circolombia. After a warm welcome from host Tracy Ann Oberman, guests were treated to a sumptuous dinner which was topped off with Roundhouse 5th Birthday Knickerbocker glory for dessert.
Clive Anderson then took to the stage to lead the live auction of fantastic prizes including tea at the Ritz with Alan Rickman, a visit to the top secret set of the Dr Who Christmas Special, two weeks on an Kenyan island, a Peter Blake print, lunch with Monty Python members, and to write and record a song with Guy Chambers. Along with the silent auction lots, the evening succeeded in raising more than £555,000 to help the Roundhouse continue its work with over 3,000 disadvantaged young people each year, enabling them to realise their creative potential, as well as offering audiences of all ages new and extraordinary experiences in live music, circus, theatre and new media.
The celebrations continued with live performances from music legends such as Nick Mason and Guy Chambers who played with Roundhouse emerging artist, Tres B, The Producers and Alison Moyet. Gary Kemp and Tony Hadley had everyone including Helena Bonham Carter dancing wildly to the iconic Spandau Ballet hit 'Gold'. The spectacular finale saw Boy George join Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, Andy Burrows and The Roundhouse Choir for the Culture Club classic, 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me'. To round off the evening, Ronson challenged the crowd to bid for the chance to join him on stage for a rip roaring rendition of his most popular hit, 'Valerie'.
We are incredibly grateful to all our event supporters, including the committee, co-chaired by Lisa Ronson and Robert Soning, event supporters Morgans Hotel Group, Jack Daniels, Belu Water, Gallow Galass Security and ico Design, as well as all the performers and the guests who joined us on the night.

A one-off Cabaret extravaganza!
Over 300 people had exclusive access to the Main Space where they were entertained by performances from our very own Roundhouse Theatre Company as well as acts from the sell-out show La Clique.
The entire building was turned into a homage to Cabaret with exquisite butterfly art work filling the surroundings. Guests enjoyed a Champagne reception followed by dinner which was punctuated with jaw-dropping performances!
As well as being able to enjoy the spectacular shows and delicious food, guests were also able to bid in an exclusive auction featuring lots such as lunch with Dragon’s Den and Roundhouse Trustee Deborah Meaden and work experience at Universal Records.
Roundhouse Rock and Roll Circus
12 June 2008
Re-living a legendary moment!
In summer 2008, we hosted our first fundraising gala since reopening in 2006 themed around the legendary Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus.
With live entertainment from some of the young people supported by the Roundhouse Studios and well known legends such as Beverly Knight and Suggs, 560 guests had a spectacular night to remember!
Nearly £1million was raised from the event. Exclusive auction lots which included tea with Alan Bennett and Michael Palin and an Antony Gormley original were snapped up on the night for generous sums.
For those looking for some celebrity spots, there was certainly no shortage with the likes of Chase Crawford, June Sarpong, Sir Peter Blake and Nick Mason joining us.
