Artist-Tutors

"Artists and young people both enjoy taking risks".

Both parties should be able to find this process rewarding. We want to offer young people high quality, challenging and interesting experiences through exploring creative ideas and learning artistic and technical skills.

The projects and courses are run by professional artists from a range of creative and cultural backgrounds — designers, performers, photographers, musicians, film-makers, poets etc. They are experienced in working with young people in a variety of formal and informal arts education settings. Sometimes the artists are supported by mentors, advisors and other specialists from the creative industries and the business sector. Much of this additional support is voluntary and provided by partners such as EMI, Bloomberg, BSkyB, JP Morgan. Artists presenting work in the Main Space will be encouraged to be involved with the work of Roundhouse Studios in some way, e.g. a guest workshop, masterclasses, a Q&A with a company, etc.

The words curriculum and classrooms are not part of our dictionary. We want to create an environment for creating and learning which enables artists and young people to inspire and motivate each other.

We draw from a pool of freelance practitioners built up though interview and recommendations from arts partners and other professional networks. Experience of working successfully with young people is more important than formal teaching qualifications. If you are an artist and are interested in working with young people at the Roundhouse Studios please send us your CV. If a suitable course or project is being planned and we think you could be involved, we will invite you to come and discuss your work (and look at your portfolio if appropriate). Please title your CV document clearly with your first and second name before sending to roundhousestudios@roundhouse.org.uk.
