Roundhouse on Tour - Summer 2010

Young people from the Roundhouse are involved in lots of festivals and events this summer. Our creative projects for 11-25s open up some amazing opportunities - take a look below to see where we're headed this year.

Glastonbury
Friday 25 – Sunday 27 June
Worthy Farm, Pilton
The Roundhouse Audio Visual Collective, Film Crew, and members of the Technical Theatre project will be creating work to be showcased at Glastonbury this year. www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk

Wardstock Festival
Saturday 10 July
West Malling, Kent
A selection of the Roundhouse’s young rock bands will be heading south this summer to grace the main stage at the Wardstock Music Festival. Confirmed bands so far include Lectric Lax and The Puppet Masters.

Camp Bestival
Friday 30 July – Sunday 1 August
Lulworth Castle, Dorset
The Roundhouse’s first appearance at Camp Bestival will include performances from the Roundhouse Theatre Company, Circus Company, Poetry Collective and Cabaret Performers. www.campbestival.net

Ealing and Canary Wharf Jazz Festivals
Ealing Jazz Festival, Walpole Park, W5: Sunday 1 August, 1pm
Canary Wharf Jazz Festival, Canada Square Park, E14: Saturday 14 August, 1pm
The Roundhouse Jazz Ensemble, Jazzphonica, is made up of twelve young, talented musicians. They’ll be performing a diverse repertoire of electronica, afro funk and jazz standards, plus original material written and developed by ensemble members.

The Big Chill
Friday 6 – Saturday 7 August
Eastnor Castle, Deer Park
For the third year running, there’ll be a Roundhouse tent at The Big Chill. During the festival, there’ll be creative workshops for ages 12-17 in music, graffiti and circus skills. In the evening, the tent will become a performance space for the hottest new talent from the Roundhouse – there’ll be young cabaret performers, poets, singer songwriters and special performances from the Roundhouse AV Collective. www.bigchill.net

Roundhouse Poetry Collective and Jazzphonica present
Generation Mixtape
Vortex Jazz Club, Gillet St, N16: Sunday 8 August, 7.30pm
Whitechapel Gallery, Whitechapel High St, E1: Thursday 12 August, 7.30pm
Twelve emerging young artists from the Roundhouse Poetry Collective and Jazzphonica come together under the direction of acclaimed jazz pianist Leon Michener and celebrated beat poet PolarBear, to explore London and our lives within it. What does it mean to be young in this city? Generation Mixtape intricately crafts jazz and spoken word in this fresh and fiery collaboration. www.vortexjazz.co.uk / www.whitechapelgallery.org

Edinburgh Fringe Festival
Roundhouse Theatre Company present their new play
