Other Side of the World

Other Side of the World

The Roundhouse has teamed up with British Council New Zealand to offer 14-21 year-old music producers, bands and solo artists a unique opportunity to collaborate with young musicians in New Zealand to create music inpired by their immediate environments in Camden and Auckland, to be recorded on an EP of new creative commons music.

In the week-long Other Side of the World project, the young musicians will collect soundclips from around Camden and record in different spaces within the Roundhouse.

Once these components heave been collected, the international collaboration will see UK participants recording and producing their tracks in the venue’s state of the art EMI studio, mentored by top producers. As the New Zealand participants’ recording and production takes place simultaneously at the Red Bull Academy in Auckland, the two groups of musicians will bounce ideas across the globe to their counterparts via Skype, Soundcloud and Inbada to create compositions on the theme of "breaking down distance".

Throughout the process, the team will record their progress by uploading media and content and updates to a dedicated blog at redbull.co.nz.
