Olivier Award winning show-woman, Marisa Carnesky, has been devising and producing extraordinary theatrical events for nearly 20 years. She’s best known for her state-of-the-art, avant-garde ride, Carnesky’s Ghost Train, which features live performers and is now permanently installed on the Blackpool sea front. Mark Storor
Mark Storor is an artist working in the space between live art and theatre. Most of his work is devised and site specific. His collaborations are often with participants from troubled communities, and in partnership with a small group of artists and producers who have honed their practice over many years. Recent work includes For the Best (2009), commissioned by the Unicorn Theatre and The Wellcome Trust, which told the stories of children attending a dialysis unit at a children’s hospital; Boychild (2007) a ground breaking science and art projected first performed in a former MOD building on Portland Bill, Dorset; Four Corners Project (2007) for which the work of five arts organisations in Liverpool were exhibited in a derelict block of flats; and Soft Ices (2005) set in a 1970s ice cream van, from which songs were swapped for ice cream. Mark is currently working on the Roundhouse Young Actors Programme, creating a piece of theatre with a group of 12-16 year olds, leading up to performance at the Roundhouse in April 2011.
PREVIOUS ASSOCIATE ARTISTS
Look Left Look Right co-produced Counted? A documentary-play about British democracy, with the Roundhouse, in 2010. It ran for five weeks in the Debating Chamber at London’s County Hall, before touring the UK. www.lookleftlookright.com
Playing On's production of Inside, in association with the Roundhouse, had a two week sold-out run in the Studio Theatre in 2010. A compelling play about young fathers in prison, it embodied Playing On's aim to create new theatre from voices seldom heard.
ASSOCIATE PRODUCERS
Simon Burke-Kennedy
After graduating from Queens University Belfast in 2003, Simon was Label Manager at Distinctive Records where he worked with artists including Hybrid, Way Out West and Dub Pistols. He then moved to TuneTribe, gaining experience in online music distribution and label managed Groove Armada's side project, Sugardaddy. In 2009, he set up Bitter & Twisted MGMT, an artist and producer management company with business partner Ged Malone, where the roster includes UK Top 5 artist Professor Green, up-and-coming pop-noir band O.Children and producer Cores. Simon curates and produces Short Circuit, the Roundhouse's festival of pioneering electronic music and technology.
Matthew Swann
Matthew delivered the Roundhouse's Reverb festival in January 2010, which presented classical music in a revolutionary environment. He's currently developing Voices Now (March 2011), a festival which will celebrate and inspire singing together, with singers from all backgrounds and abilities joined by some of the world's leading vocal groups. Previous projects include production, consultancy and fundraising roles for leading organisations including the Orchestra of St John’s, Making Music and the Barbican.
