Project dates: 2016-2017 (in progress)
In October 2016, we recruited two groups of 16-25 year-old producers, DJs, vocalists and MCs to be part of a project to create original music whilst learning from sound system veterans and new emerging collectives. One was based in London, the other in Rio Di Janeiro.
Spider J (UK) and Marcelo Yuka (Brazil) hosted the music making workshops, and in February 2017 several Brazilian participants will be invited to London to collaborate with their UK peers and perform together as part of Roundhouse Rising Festival.
Further musical exchanges will occur online, with participants from both groups sharing ideas and collaborating on work using online music platforms and tools.
